Family Life: My wife Rebecca is from Indianapolis and is an alumna of Indiana University and Christian Student Fellowship (No, she was not a student when I first arrived at IU). We have been blessed by God with two wonderful, healthy children, Charlie and Emma. My mom, Dot Kershner, lives in Berwick, Pennsylvania. I have a sister named Pam living in Louisville with her husband, Joe, and their two kids, Drew and Callie Ann. Bill's Story: I grew up in a Christian home where we faithfully went to church each week unless we were out of town. Church was something I did. I had a little head knowledge of Jesus, but not heart knowledge. Christianity was a list of dos and don'ts and when I messed up I had no idea where I stood with God. It wasn't until I was in my 20s that I understood what grace and the love of Christ was all about. Through having a relationship with Jesus Christ I have learned that God is crazy about me and calls me His child. Church is no longer something I do, instead it is something I am. Being a Christian is my identity; each decision goes through the lens of following Jesus. Why ministry: Is there a better gig in town? I do ministry because I believe the message that Jesus Christ came to help the sick and there are a lot of sick people in this world. Everywhere you look you see hurting people and it's my biblical call to take my eyes off my self and place them on others. God knows I have much to learn about ministry, but I'm grateful that He gives me grace as I continue to grow in giving my life away. The beauty of ministry is that God allows me, one who's sick to reach out to those who are just like me. |
I love spending time with Rebecca and listening to her laugh. I am passionate about almost all Philadelphia sports teams. I also enjoy chocolate, movies, traveling, teaching and talking with students.
