Chris Jones

Chris JonesFamily life: My wife, Krystal, and I have been married since 2000. Our son Seth was born in January of 2002 and our daughter Leah was born in August of 2004. An interesting bit of information about these little people, they are wildly entertaining and quite funny. For example my son refers to himself as “Seth Boy”, because he’s convinced he is in fact a super hero. I’m not sure what his super-power is yet. It’s probably either the volume level of his voice or his ability to make me laugh harder than anyone else I know. Leah, on the other hand, is so easy going and quite possibly the sweetest girl in the world.

Chris’ story: I started college at Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State) back in the fall of 1993 without much understanding of what Christianity was all about. But God blessed me right away with some great friends who were true followers of Christ. They really accepted me as I was and spent time just hanging out with me and as I got to know them better they were simply honest about their love for God. They started taking me with them to campus ministry gatherings. At my first visit to the Christian Campus House, the campus minister asked me out to lunch and we started hanging out every week. He would walk me through scripture and talked with me about who Jesus is and what He desired in my life. That what Jesus really wanted from me was a relationship. So I surrendered my life to Him and started this amazing journey. A journey in which I got my BA in History only to have absolutely no clue what to do with my life until another campus minister suggested that I consider doing a campus ministry internship for a year. That led to serving on the staff of Christian Campus House at SMS for seven years before joining the staff of the IU CSF.

Why ministry?: I don’t know if you read that last little bit, but I have a BA in History so the options were pretty limited. Seriously, God changed my life and gave me hope and purpose through campus ministry and I have such a passion for college students to find and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
